House Joint Resolution honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Ercile Jelks of Montgomery, who passed away at age 77.

Mrs. Jelks was born January 15, 1933, and served as a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery in various roles including Youth Directress, Musician, and Trustee Board member.

She graduated as valedictorian from West Side High School in Talladega in 1951 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree, Master's degree, and Education Specialist Certification from Alabama State University, receiving a Golden Diploma in 2007.

Mrs. Jelks was a classroom teacher in Montgomery Public Schools for 43 years and received multiple awards including Elementary Teacher of the Year and recognition as a Public Relations Mentor.

She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Mobile Heights Community Organization, and is survived by her husband Robert Jelks, Sr., son Robert Jelks, Jr., and extended family.
