HJR97 Summary

• Establishes the Two-Year College System Joint Interim Legislative Committee composed of 5 members from each house, appointed by presiding officers.

• Committee membership must reflect racial, gender, geographic, urban and rural, and economic diversity of Alabama.

• Committee shall study all facets of the two-year college system and adopt recommendations from the House Interim Legislative Study Committee final report submitted January 21, 2010.

• Committee must report findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the Legislature by the fifth legislative day of the 2011 Regular Session, then dissolves.

• Members receive regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses for meeting attendance, with total committee expenditures capped at $5,000.
