Recognizes the 50th Anniversary of the 1960 sit-in campaign conducted by Alabama State College (now Alabama State University) students on February 25, 1960, at the Montgomery County Courthouse Cafe.

Honors nine principal student organizers of the sit-in: Elroy Emory, John Dixon, Edward E. Jones, Bernard Lee, James McFadden, Joseph Peterson, Leon Rice, Howard Shipman, and Marzette Watts.

Acknowledges the student-led protests that followed expulsion demands by Governor John Patterson, including marches to the State Capitol, class boycotts, and refusal to register for spring 1960 term.

Recognizes support from civil rights leaders including Reverend Ralph David Abernathy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and notes the landmark legal case St. John Dixon v. Alabama that affirmed due process rights for college students.

Conveys commendations to the groundbreaking students and Alabama State University leadership for memorializing the historic 1960 sit-in campaign events.
