Recognizes W.M. "Ike" Murphree of Ashville as an outstanding citizen of St. Clair County, Alabama.

Acknowledges his military service as a member of the Escort Guard responsible for repatriation of German prisoners of war and his selection as bodyguard to General Dwight D. Eisenhower after being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943.

Notes his career as a professional farmer, operating a 105-acre farm in Cool Springs continuously since 1948, and his regional reputation as a master gardener specializing in watermelons and peas.

Honors his family, including his late wife Alice Lucile Wyatt Murphree and four children: W.M. "Bill" Murphree Jr., Elizabeth, Linda, and Alice.

Extends the Legislature's highest gratitude and esteem to Mr. Murphree and his family for his exemplary service to the nation and people of Alabama.
