Commends First Baptist Church Leeds on celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010

Church was organized on April 10, 1910, with 15 members and Reverend James Stewart as the first pastor

Church constructed its first wooden building on Ashville Road in 1913, which grew to 68 members by April 1914 and was replaced with a new structure dedicated on October 23, 1938

Present church building acquired in November 1966, with plans presented in July 1969 and dedication on December 3, 1972; Christian activities building added in November 1989

Reverend Ray McKenzie has served as pastor since September 2007 and leads the congregation with various ministries including music, Women's Missionary Union, and children's programs
