Commends Representative Jody Letson for his outstanding service as a member of the Tennessee Valley Caucus of the Alabama House of Representatives.

The Tennessee Valley Caucus was formed on March 31, 2005, to serve as a unified voice for the interests of people and counties in Alabama's Tennessee Valley region.

The Caucus successfully passed Tennessee River Protection Acts for multiple counties (Marshall, Colbert, Jackson, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, and Lauderdale) and secured $3 million in TVA in-lieu-of-tax money through Act 2006-655.

In 2010, the Caucus passed House Bill 44, a 5 percent TVA recapture bill that returns approximately $6 million to the Tennessee Valley for education, mental health, fire protection, law enforcement, and infrastructure improvements.

Representative Letson's leadership enabled the Caucus to achieve previously unattainable goals through collective effort rather than individual legislative action.
