• Commends the Jefferson County Alumnae Chapter (JCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, for its Legislative Page Program.

• JCAC established the Political Awareness program in 1996 to introduce high school juniors and seniors to the political process.

• Legislative pages assist members of the Legislature during annual sessions, performing duties such as copying documents, delivering messages, and working on the House and Senate floors while receiving a small stipend.

• In 2010, JCAC sponsored seven student participants from five schools: Yasmine Cargill, Payton Garrett, LaDarrius Jackson, Morgan Lee, Ryan Leonard, Dominique Maddox, and Vernon Marshall.

• The program has operated for 14 years as an educational tool allowing students to witness democracy in action and meet outstanding peers from around the state.
