SB22 Summary

• Establishes a special disabled veteran's hunting and freshwater and saltwater fishing license valid on a continuous basis for veterans certified as 100 percent service-connected, permanently and totally disabled by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or Armed Forces.

• Requires applicants to be bona fide residents of Alabama for at least six months before application and to submit proof of disability from the Department of Veterans Affairs or Armed Forces branch.

• Allows county license issuers a $1 issuance fee for each special disabled veteran's license issued, with licenses not issued by special agents.

• License replaces the need for annual resident hunting, freshwater fishing, and saltwater fishing licenses but does not exempt veterans from additional requirements for state wildlife management areas or migratory waterfowl hunting licenses.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
