AL SB25

Extends the deadline for presenting claims for death benefits of peace officers or firefighters from one year to two years from the date of death.

Allows individuals who became newly eligible to claim benefits due to Act 2008-480 to present claims within one year of that act's enactment, regardless of whether the original two-year deadline had passed, for deaths occurring January 1, 2006 or later.

Authorizes the awarding authority to prescribe claim forms and adopt rules of evidence and procedure for determining compensation claims.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval, with retroactive applicability to January 1, 2007.
