• Requires the State Superintendent of Education to immediately revoke teaching certificates of any person convicted of a Class A felony or sex offense involving a child, including rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, child pornography, and related offenses.

• Mandates immediate cancellation of employment contracts for teachers on continuing service status, principals, and contract principals whose certificates are revoked under the bill's provisions.

• Requires immediate termination of employment for nonprobationary education employees convicted of felonies or sex offenses involving children.

• Provides that if a conviction is overturned on appeal, the employee's certificate or employment must be immediately reinstated and the employee reimbursed for back pay plus benefits within 45 days.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval.
