SB320 Summary

• Amends Section 34-24-192 of the Alabama Code to modify the appointment process for the Board of Physical Therapy, which consists of seven members: four physical therapists, two physical therapist assistants, and one consumer member.

• Changes the nomination and appointment process so that five members are appointed by the Governor from lists nominated by current licensees, while two additional members are appointed by the Governor directly pursuant to subsection (e).

• Restricts congressional district representation by specifying that no single congressional district shall be represented by two physical therapists on the board.

• Requires board membership to be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state, with board members serving staggered five-year terms and limited to no more than two consecutive terms.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
