SB339 Summary

• Proposes a local constitutional amendment to the Alabama Constitution of 1901 affecting Blount County municipalities.

• Prohibits any municipality located entirely outside of Blount County from imposing municipal ordinances or regulations in its police jurisdiction within Blount County, including taxes, zoning, planning, sanitation regulations, and inspection services.

• Prohibits municipalities subject to this restriction from providing regulatory functions or police or fire protection services in their Blount County police jurisdictions, with the exception of public safety mutual aid.

• Election on the proposed amendment shall be held in accordance with Amendment 555 to the Alabama Constitution and state election laws.

• Requires election officials to assign a ballot number and provide voters with a description of the amendment and Yes/No voting options.
