SB36 Summary

• Requires contractors on state contracts valued at $7,500 or more to provide written lists identifying all direct subcontractors, suppliers, and their owners and primary business locations within 20 days of contract execution.

• Contractors must update subcontractor lists within 10 days of any changes and submit affidavits with each payment application listing all subcontractors, labor/material suppliers, and verification that employees are legally present in Alabama.

• Failure to provide required subcontractor information may result in contract cancellation.

• Directs the Comptroller to include all public contract subcontractor information in the state's Internet expenditure database for public access.

• Applies to all existing contracts governed by Titles 39 and 41 of the Alabama Code that remain incomplete at the effective date; becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval.
