SB388 Summary

• Amends Section 34-11-4 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding licensure requirements for professional engineers and land surveyors.

• Adds a new temporary pathway for professional engineer licensure: graduates of approved bachelor's engineering curricula with a doctorate in engineering plus four years of experience are eligible before December 31, 2015.

• Maintains existing licensure pathways for professional engineers (approved curriculum plus 4 years experience, or unapproved curriculum plus 6 years experience) and engineer interns.

• Preserves established requirements for professional land surveyors and land surveyor interns, including education, experience, and examination standards.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
