SB422 Summary

• Amends Section 34-1-4, Code of Alabama 1975, to allow persons who have never sat for the uniform CPA examination to obtain a certified public accountant certificate without passing the exam if they meet educational requirements.

• Requires applicants to have completed 150 semester hours or 225 quarter hours of postsecondary education, including a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Mandates that the education program include an accounting concentration and other course work as defined or required by the Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy.

• Makes the act effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
