SB462 Summary

• Allows state employees subject to Merit System and legislative personnel to receive payment for accrued and unused annual leave days exceeding 60 days, up to a maximum of 10 days per year.

• Law enforcement officers in the Department of Public Safety are entitled to receive such payments without discretion; payment calculated using the officer's regular rate of pay.

• For all other eligible state employees, each department, agency, board, or commission has sole discretion to determine payment amounts from zero to 10 days, provided all qualifying employees within the entity are treated equally.

• Departments and agencies cannot make such payments if doing so would prevent them from paying merit raises to employees.

• Effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
