SB 465 Summary

• Merit System employees of the Department of Corrections who work inside correctional facilities receive a one-step, 2.5 percent salary increase effective the first payday on or after October 1, 2011.

• Annual increases of 2.5 percent continue each October 1st for years when the General Fund is not in proration, until total salary increases reach 10 percent.

• Salary increases are in addition to normal annual merit raises and cost-of-living adjustments and apply to employees working in correctional facilities, work release centers, and similar facilities under department care and custody.

• The State Personnel Department Director shall revise pay plan classifications and salary ranges for affected employees and submit revised schedules to the Comptroller for warrant issuance.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
