SB489 Summary

• Adds two additional commercial fishermen members to the Advisory Board of Conservation and Natural Resources, increasing the board from 10 appointed members to 12.

• Governors appoint the two commercial fishermen from a list of three nominees for each position submitted by the Organized Seafood Association of Alabama, Inc.

• The commercial fishermen members serve the same six-year terms as other appointed board members and receive expense reimbursement but no salary.

• These two members are excluded from the residency requirements that apply to other board members, so they do not count toward the one-member-per-congressional-district rule.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
