SB 84 Summary

• Changes pesticide and pesticide device registration from annual to biennial (every two years) in Alabama, amending Section 2-27-9 of the Code of Alabama 1975

• Increases registration fee from $200 annually to $400 biennially, with fee structure based on registrant's first letter of name beginning in 2010

• Registrants with names A-K renew on December 31, 2010 for two years at $400 per product; registrants with names L-Z renew for one year at $200 (valid through December 31, 2011), then switch to two-year renewal periods at $400

• Authorizes the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, with State Board of Agriculture and Industries approval, to adjust the biennial fee as necessary to reflect registration costs, with fee capped at national average of the product after October 1, 2011

• Increases delinquency penalty for late registration from $50 to $125 per product if fee not paid by March 1 or within 60 days of due date
