SB90 Summary

• Increases board member compensation for water, sewer, and fire protection authorities and municipal water/sewer service boards, doubling per-meeting fees from $200-$300 to $400-$600 for members and chairs respectively.

• Raises annual compensation caps from $2,400-$3,600 to $4,800-$7,200 per year for board members and chairs serving single systems.

• Exempts sanitary sewer systems from compensation requirements and maintains exceptions for the Cities of Montgomery, Cullman, and Birmingham.

• Applies compensation increases to municipal corporations providing water and sewer services under Sections 11-50-15 and 11-50-313, and to county and municipal water, sewer, and fire protection authorities under Section 11-88-6.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
