• The National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils represents 375 RC&D Councils nationwide and annually awards one member for outstanding performance.

• The Alabama Mountains, Rivers, and Valleys RC&D Council was selected to receive the NARCD Outstanding Performance Award for 2009.

• The council completed projects to boost life skills in rural and urban communities, support Native American cultural heritage, increase child and youth well-being, help farmers address drought and energy efficiency, protect watersheds, and improve forest management.

• The Alabama Senate commends the RC&D Council staff and members from Limestone, Madison, Lawrence, Cullman, Jackson, Marshall, Morgan, and DeKalb Counties for earning the 2009 award.

• Adopted by the Senate on March 30, 2010 and by the House of Representatives on April 13, 2010.
