• Commends the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Alabama A and M University for hosting the Technical Assistance Conference on April 26-28, 2010.

• Conference brought together more than 400 representatives from the HBCU community, business, industry, and federal and private sectors to learn about proposal development, grants, contracts, fellowships, and internships.

• Recognizes that the nation's 105 HBCUs serve more than 300,000 undergraduate and graduate students and have produced many of the nation's leaders in business, government, academia, and the military.

• Notes that HBCUs serve as engines of economic growth and proven ladders of intergenerational advancement for people of all ethnic, racial, and economic backgrounds.

• Directs that copies of the resolution be presented to Dr. John S. Wilson, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on HBCUs, and Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr., President of Alabama A and M University.
