• Commends the Honorable John M. Baker on his retirement as Assistant Vice President - Government Relations for Norfolk Southern Railroad after 26 years of service.

• Recognizes Baker's distinguished legal career practicing law for 17 years in Rainsville and Ft. Payne, and his service in the Alabama House of Representatives (1970-1973) and Senate (1973-1978), where he was named Outstanding Freshman Senator and Hardest Working Senator by the Capitol Press Corps.

• Acknowledges Baker's service as Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party from 1985 to 1990 and his membership in numerous professional and civic organizations including the Alabama Railway Association, Montgomery Committee of 100, and Montgomery Chamber of Commerce.
