SJR65 Summary

• Japanese Navy attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 at 7:55 a.m., sinking or severely damaging 18 American military vessels including 8 battleships, destroying 161 American airplanes, and seriously damaging 102 additional aircraft.

• Attack killed no fewer than 2,400 American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and civilians, including dozens of Alabamians.

• Alabama Legislature honors Alabamians and fellow Americans who were injured or killed in the Pearl Harbor attack and recognizes the service of survivors.

• A copy of this resolution will be provided to Theodore High School students visiting Pearl Harbor in April 2010 for inclusion in their commemoration of sacrifices made by injured or killed Alabamians.
