AL SJR81

Creates a Joint Interim Committee on Legislative Operations composed of six members: the Senate Majority and Minority Leaders (or designees), the Senate Secretary (or designee), one House member appointed by the House Majority Leader, one House member appointed by the House Minority Leader, and the House Clerk (or designee).

Committee shall study methods to make the Legislature more environmentally friendly through conservation, recycling, and reuse of printed materials, and increased use of the Internet for information dissemination.

Committee shall examine reducing use of paper, ink, toner, and other materials for daily calendars, bills, journals, and other printed matters, as well as environmentally friendly disposal methods including additional recycling.

Committee shall report findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the Legislature at the 2011 Organizational Session, at which point the committee dissolves.

Total expenditures for the committee shall not exceed $5,000; members receive regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses only when attending meetings and not during legislative sessions or when receiving other state payments on the same dates.
