The Greene County Sheriff or authorized agents may operate a jail store for prisoners within the county jail to serve the jail population's needs.

All jail store proceeds shall be deposited into a tax-exempt Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund maintained at a Greene County bank, with all transactions accounted for in the fund.

The Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund shall be audited by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts at the same time as other sheriff accounts, with audit copies submitted to the sheriff within 30 days of completion.

All profits from jail store operations shall be expended at the sheriff's discretion for law enforcement purposes in Greene County that are in the public interest, and shall not diminish other income sources for the sheriff's office.

Any prior actions relating to jail store operation before this act's effective date are ratified and confirmed, with all existing proceeds to be deposited into the newly created Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund.
