HB24 Summary

• Amends Section 36-29-14 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add United Ways of Alabama and its member United Ways to the list of entities eligible to participate in state health insurance coverage.

• Allows participating organizations to elect coverage for their officers, members, employees, and retired employees through the State Employees' Insurance Board without liability to the state or the Health Insurance Plan.

• Participating organizations must adopt a resolution conforming to rules prescribed by the State Employees' Insurance Board to participate in the program.

• Employers must remit required premiums to the State Employees' Insurance Board and furnish necessary information, with cost-sharing arrangements determined by the board.

• Effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
