HB37 Summary

• Continues the existence and functioning of the Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board until October 1, 2012, pursuant to the Alabama Sunset Law.

• Exempts plumbing work performed by a property owner on his or her own property from the requirement of board certification.

• Exempts plumbing or gas fitting work performed by a maintenance person regularly employed by a property owner from certification requirements when the work is incidental to property maintenance and performed on the employer's premises.

• Amends Section 34-37-15 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to consolidate and clarify exemptions from licensure requirements for various categories of plumbing and gas fitting work, including utility company employees and appliance installation work.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
