HB422 Summary

• Amends Section 40-12-244 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add a new exemption category for motor vehicle license and registration fees.

• Exempts veterans who are 100 percent permanently and totally disabled from paying license taxes and registration fees on one passenger vehicle, provided the vehicle displays the disabled veteran distinctive license plate issued under Section 32-6-130.

• The exemption applies only to one vehicle registered in the name of the disabled veteran and does not allow payment of additional fees for other vehicles.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or if the bill otherwise becomes law.
