HB469 Summary

• Amends Section 23-1-81 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to reduce the minimum distance between toll bridges over the same watercourse from two miles to one mile.

• Allows county commissions and the State Department of Transportation to license individuals, groups, partnerships, corporations, and other entities to establish and operate toll bridges, ferries, toll roads, and causeways.

• Authorizes licensees to establish and fix toll rates, with no additional licenses, taxes, or fees required from any governmental body or agency after initial licensure.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
