HB 472 Summary

• Amends Section 41-16-123 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to exclude diseased timber, storm-damaged timber, and fire-damaged timber from state surplus property sale requirements.

• Exempts timber cut on rights-of-way or easements in any state forest or other land under the Forestry Commission's jurisdiction from standard surplus property provisions.

• Allows the State Forester to sell or dispose of exempt timber in a manner deemed in the best interest of the state, provided diseased timber sales require written certification from the State Forester to the Director of Finance.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
