• Defines "hospital pharmacy services" as services that may be provided by hospital pharmacists but explicitly excludes any requirement for receipt or inventory of drugs, medicines, medical devices, chemicals, or poisons.

• Requires hospital pharmacy service providers to obtain a permit from the State Board of Pharmacy with fees between $100-$200 for new permits and $50-$150 for renewals.

• Allows hospital pharmacists employed by or under contract with a hospital to provide pharmacy services to hospital patients from locations outside the physical hospital pharmacy, only in board-authorized places.

• Specifies the State Board of Pharmacy shall promulgate rules regarding hospital pharmacy service permits in consultation with the Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists.

• Clarifies that hospital pharmacy service permits do not expand the practice of pharmacy beyond limits set in existing law and do not restrict the practice of medicine.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
