HB605 Summary

• Amends Section 16 of Act 97-663 to further define duties of Macon County Commission members regarding roads and bridges in their districts.

• County commission members may elect to direct a crew to maintain unpaved roads and address citizen complaints and concerns in their district.

• Personnel and equipment for any crew shall be determined by the county commission in session, with expenses drawn from the overall county roads, bridges, and ferries budget.

• Commissioners electing to direct a crew become custodian and accountable to the county commission for all road machinery, equipment, tools, supplies, and repair parts owned by Macon County.

• County commission shall establish necessary policies and regulations governing accountability for county-owned equipment; requisition requests must be routed through the county engineer or presented to the commission in session.

• Effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
