District Attorney of the Sixth Judicial Circuit may appoint a chief investigator and additional investigators, who serve at the district attorney's pleasure.

Chief investigator and additional investigators must meet minimum standards for law enforcement officers and hold current certification from the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission.

Investigators possess the same power, authority, and immunity as deputy sheriffs and other law enforcement officers in Alabama, and may administer oaths and take testimony.

Investigators are compensated and employed as state employees within the district attorney's office, report to the district attorney, and perform assigned duties.

Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval, or upon otherwise becoming law.
