HB92 Summary

• Amends Section 31-5-3 of the Alabama Code to add the Alabama Alliance of the Military Officers Association of America, Inc. to the list of veterans organizations authorized to nominate members to the State Board of Veterans' Affairs.

• The State Board of Veterans' Affairs is composed of the Governor as chair and representatives from nine designated veterans organizations, with board membership based on each organization's resident membership on July 1 of the appointment year using a ratio of one representative per 7,500 members or fraction thereof.

• Each designated organization must nominate three veteran members to the Governor for each board position to which the organization is entitled, with nominations including representative proportions of veterans from all wars included in the organization's membership.

• Board members serve four-year terms and are entitled to a per diem not exceeding $25 per day plus travel and other necessary expenses.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
