Expresses the Alabama Legislature's condolences for the death of Mr. Jacob Eugene Merrill of Covington County on February 14, 2011, at age 85.

Honors Mr. Merrill's service as a three-year term soldier in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and his subsequent education at Auburn University in Mechanical Engineering.

Recognizes his 50+ year ownership and operation of J.M. Merrill Motors in Andalusia with his father and brother, his memberships in Mason and Toastmaster organizations, and his role as a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Andalusia.

Notes his achievement of winning the runner-up doubles trophy at the World Domino Tournament in Andalusia in 1979 and his reputation as an avid Auburn football supporter and quick-witted conversationalist.

Extends heartfelt sympathy to his surviving family members: wife Mary Clyde Merrill; children Martha Susan Griffith (M.D.), Fran Bostick, and John Jacob Merrill; brother Warren Merrill; sister Becky Wilder; and other family members.
