Father Carroll William Plourde, S.S.E., died on March 8, 2011, at age 57 after celebrating morning Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Selma, Alabama.

He was a professed member of the Society of Saint Edmund for 27 years and a priest for 23 years, serving as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Selma from October 1990 until his death.

Father Plourde served four consecutive terms as Superior of the Edmundite Southern House from 1997-2009 and held positions on multiple boards including the Board of Directors of Bishop Perry Middle School and the Board of Trustees of Saint Michael's College.

During his 21 years in Selma, he was remembered for taking pastoral burdens upon himself and devoting himself especially to caring for the sick, the young, and the divorced.

The Legislature of Alabama expresses profound regret at his death and extends heartfelt sympathy to his surviving mother, Grace Thibodeau Plourde, and four brothers.
