Honors Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr., on his investiture ceremony as the 11th President of Alabama A and M University, with the theme "Celebrating our Heritage and Embracing Our Future."

Dr. Hugine joined AAMU in July 2009 after an extensive career in higher education that included teaching, research, and administrative positions in South Carolina and Michigan.

Holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees in Mathematics from South Carolina State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education/Institutional Research from Michigan State University.

Served as President of South Carolina State University for 30 years from 2003-2008, during which he oversaw extensive renovations, new construction, and provided visionary leadership.

Legislature commends and congratulates Dr. Hugine for his exceptional abilities and unwavering commitment to education; adopted by the House on March 31, 2011 and by the Senate on April 6, 2011.
