The Links, Incorporated was established in 1946 as an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to civic engagement and improvement with more than 12,000 members across 42 states, the District of Columbia, and the Bahamas.

Nine chapters of The Links have been chartered in Alabama cities including Birmingham, Huntsville, Leeds, Mobile, Montgomery, Selma, Tuscaloosa, and Tuskegee.

The organization focuses on five program areas: The Arts, National Trends and Services, Services to Youth, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.

Alabama Links Day at the Capitol was held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, with a focus on preventing childhood obesity, a critical area of concern for Alabama.

The resolution recognizes the humanitarian efforts of The Links, Incorporated members in Alabama and specifically recognizes Honorable Terri Sewell, a member of The Links, for her election to the United States Congress.
