Commends Mr. Shirrell Roberts as the 2011 Executive Branch State Employee of the Year, selected by the State Personnel Department.

Roberts serves as Assistant Director for Infrastructure Protection with the Department of Homeland Security, focusing on improving safety and security of critical infrastructure including transportation and ports.

Roberts is a West Point graduate and Army Captain who began state service with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs as a Planning and Economic Development Specialist before transferring to the Department of Homeland Security as an Emergency Management Planner.

Played a vital role in ensuring a safe environment for Governor Bentley's inauguration and currently serves on several homeland security committees while mentoring other employees.

House adopted the resolution on May 25, 2011, and the Senate adopted it on May 31, 2011.
