The Links, Incorporated was established in 1946 as an international not-for-profit organization focused on civic engagement and improvement with over 12,000 members across 42 states, the District of Columbia, and the Bahamas.

Nine chapters of The Links operate in Alabama cities including Birmingham, Huntsville, Leeds, Mobile, Montgomery, Selma, Tuscaloosa, and Tuskegee.

The organization's programs address five areas: The Arts, National Trends and Services, Services to Youth, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.

The Alabama Links Day at the Capitol will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, with a focus on preventing childhood obesity.

The House of Representatives recognizes the humanitarian efforts of The Links members in Alabama and specifically recognizes Congresswoman Terri Sewell for her election to represent Alabama in the United States Congress.
