Commends Michael P. Howley for his professional achievement and distinguished service to Alabama State University for more than three decades, with his retirement announced.

Recognizes Howley's career at ASU beginning in 1979 as Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts, where he created the Theatre Major and Minor and initiated ASU's involvement in major theatre conferences and festivals.

Documents Howley's extensive professional accomplishments, including directing more than 250 plays and holding unique memberships in the American Theatre Critics Association and International Association of Theatre Critics.

Acknowledges his numerous awards and honors, including the Marian Gallaway Award, Hall of Fame Award, Sasakawa Fellowship, Kennedy Center scholarship, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
