• The Union Chapel Family Life Center at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is being named in honor of Mr. Charles L. Ray, Jr., with a dedication ceremony scheduled for April 30, 2011.

• The Family Life Center will provide health, wellness, and recreational programs designed to enhance emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and physical well-being for church members.

• Mr. Ray served as Equal Employment Opportunity Program Manager at Redstone Arsenal from 1971 to 2001 and earned degrees including a Bachelor of Science in History and Master's Degree in Urban Studies from Alabama A and M University.

• Mr. Ray served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Redstone Federal Credit Union for 28 years (retiring February 2011) and is the owner and president of Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.

• The House of Representatives directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Ray in recognition of his philanthropy, community service, and humanitarian contributions, including an endowed scholarship at Union Chapel Christian Academy.
