Honors Bishop Henry Nutt Parsley, Jr. for his faithful service as Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama since 1999, having begun as Bishop Coadjutor in 1996.

Recognizes the growth of the Diocese under his tenure in both number of parishes and parishioners, and his prior service as Rector at three churches in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Acknowledges his extensive educational credentials including a B.A. from University of the South (1970), M.Div. from General Theological Seminary (1973), and two Doctoral degrees in Divinity (1998), plus studies at Oxford University.

Notes his leadership roles as trustee of University of the South, Chancellor (2003-2009), chair of the Theology Committee of the House of Bishops (1999-2010), and founding president of the Alabama Faith Council.

Commends Bishop Parsley upon his retirement and expresses best wishes as he pursues environmental advocacy, teaching, leading retreats, and fly-fishing.
