Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tierce Browning of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the age of 62 years.

She was a retired educator with 30 years of service, teaching English at Emma Sansom High School for 27 years and serving as homecoming coordinator and National Honor Society Council member.

She held leadership positions in Altrusa International, Inc., the Etowah Education Retirees Association, and was a Silver Sister of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honor Society for Women Educators.

She was a dedicated member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church where she served in the Chancel Choir, taught Sunday School, and wrote scripts for church pageants and musical presentations.

The House of Representatives mourns her death and extends deepest sympathies to her surviving husband Michael Browning (married 38 years), daughter Jennifer Coffey, brother Larry Tierce, and other family members.
