Alabama House of Representatives congratulates Mark Gottfried on his appointment as head basketball coach at North Carolina State University in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Gottfried compiled a 278-155 career coaching record over 14 seasons at Murray State and University of Alabama, including seven NCAA tournament appearances and five consecutive tournament bids at Alabama from 2002-06.

Alabama achieved its first-ever No. 1 ranking during the 2002-03 season under Gottfried's coaching.

Gottfried served as a college basketball analyst for ESPN following his departure from Alabama in 2009.

Resolution directs that a copy be provided to Gottfried with best wishes for continued success in the coaching profession.
