SB143 Summary

• Adds the Alabama Alliance of the Military Officers Association of America, Inc. to the list of veterans organizations authorized to nominate members to the State Board of Veterans' Affairs.

• Board members serve four-year terms and are selected based on membership ratios of nominating organizations, with one representative per 7,500 resident members or fraction thereof.

• Each organization nominates three veterans for each board position to which it is entitled, with nominations reflecting proportional representation of all wars represented in the organization's membership.

• Board membership must be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of Alabama.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
