• Reduces the period before a school term during which teachers cannot cancel contracts from 45 to 30 calendar days without mutual agreement.

• Establishes that teachers deemed guilty of unprofessional conduct for improper contract cancellation are subject to certificate revocation or suspension by the State Superintendent of Education.

• Clarifies that teachers are presumed to have accepted reemployment for the succeeding school year unless they notify the board of education in writing within 30 calendar days before the first day of the school term.

• Requires a majority vote of board members, evidenced by minute entries, prior to or at the time of contract cancellation or notice of nonemployment for any teacher.
