Amends Act 98-577 to authorize the Lee County Sheriff to sell or destroy abandoned, stolen, and unclaimed firearms if the owner does not claim the firearm within six months of the date the sheriff obtained it.

Requires the sheriff to maintain a separate permanent record of all abandoned and stolen firearms, including the firearm description, date of recovery, serial or identifying number, and place of recovery.

Permits the sheriff to sell firearms to licensed dealers within and outside Alabama through a competitive sealed bid process, with proceeds after expenses paid to the Office of the Sheriff of Lee County.

Authorizes the sheriff to establish procedures for destroying firearms and to expend necessary sheriff department funds for that purpose.

Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
