SB377 Summary

• Authorizes additional court costs not to exceed $15 per case in Baldwin County circuit, district, and juvenile courts for civil and criminal cases, including traffic and small claims cases, excluding municipal courts.

• Collected fees shall be deposited into the Baldwin County Law Library and Judicial Administration Fund to pay court employee salaries and support continued court operations.

• Court costs imposed by this section expire on September 30, 2013, after which the section shall be repealed.

• Presiding circuit court judge may adjust or eliminate the court costs based on state funding availability, and may increase or decrease the amount as necessary without exceeding the $15 maximum per case.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
